These simple steps can reduce pain and prevent further injury. They do not replace emergency care.
Suspected fracture
Keep the limb still, support it with a pillow or folded cardboard, apply a wrapped ice pack. Do not try to straighten it.
Heavy bleeding
Press firmly on the wound with a clean cloth and keep pressing. Raise the injured part if possible.
Back or neck injury
Do not move the person unless they are in danger. Keep the head and neck in line.
Chest pain
Help the person sit comfortably, loosen tight clothing and call us immediately.
