Knee Replacement

Total and partial knee replacement for advanced arthritis — so you can walk, climb stairs and sit comfortably again.
Knee Replacement

Overview

When the cartilage of the knee wears away, bone rubs on bone. The result is pain, stiffness, swelling and a leg that slowly bends out of shape. Medicines and physiotherapy help in the early stages, but once the joint is badly damaged, a knee replacement is often the most reliable way to get your life back.

In a knee replacement, the damaged joint surfaces are replaced with smooth, precisely fitted implants made of medical-grade metal and polyethylene. Our orthopaedic team plans every surgery around your X-rays, your daily routine and your goals — whether that is walking to the temple, playing with grandchildren or returning to work.

Conditions treated

  • Osteoarthritis of the knee
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Post-traumatic arthritis after an old injury
  • Severe deformity of the knee

Our approach

How we treat it.

01

Detailed evaluation

Examination, X-rays in the hospital and fitness tests so the surgery is planned safely, especially for patients with diabetes, BP or heart conditions.

02

Total or partial replacement

Depending on how much of the joint is damaged, the surgeon replaces the whole knee or only the worn compartment.

03

Pain-managed surgery

Our anaesthesiology team uses modern anaesthesia and pain-control techniques so you can start moving early.

04

Early mobilisation

Physiotherapy begins in the hospital itself, helping you stand and walk with support as soon as it is safe.

Recovery

What recovery usually looks like.

Every patient recovers at their own pace. Your doctor and physiotherapist will give you a personal plan.

  1. In hospital

Standing and walking with a walker, simple bending exercises and pain control.

  2. Weeks 1–3

Walking at home with support, daily physiotherapy exercises and wound care.

  3. Weeks 4–6

More confident walking, easier stairs and less dependence on support.

  4. After 3 months

Most daily activities resume comfortably, as advised by your surgeon.
